ARETIA

TL;DR

The only child of a prestigious Draconid family, Aretia was forced into the role of the family's heir from a young age. However, he's more interested in training and shiny hunting than carrying on his family's long legacy...

PERSONALITY

Aretia, on the surface, wears a constant neutral face. He can come across as extremely cold and uninterested in everything but his own hobbies, which is partly true, but he has a lot going on under the surface.

When extremely upset, it's like a switch flips and he becomes a different person. His anger is explosive and usually ends in someone in tears. (Half the time, that person is him.)

HISTORY

(I'm rewriting his lore right now so this is kind of a mess)

Aretia always had a strained relationship with his parents- they wanted him to carry on their family's legacy by becoming the future Lorekeeper. However, when the previous Lorekeeper died an unexpected death, the title went to a teenager named Zinnia instead.

His parents began to push him even harder after that despite Aretia only being around 10 at the time. If he couldn't be the Lorekeeper, he was expected to somehow upstage Zinnia. Aretia, meanwhile, spent half of his time hunting for shiny Pokemon and training his team.

Years after the events of the Delta Episode, when Lycora begins her plan to "right Zinnia's wrongs," as she put it, Aretia is tasked with stopping her. Lycora's plan involves "freeing" Rayquaza from its current trainer, which his parents (justifiably, honestly) believe will make all the Draconid people look bad.

Aretia, meanwhile, is utterly indifferent. He believes that if Rayquaza was truly imprisoned, it would have freed itself already. It's a divine being, after all. He also thinks that if Lycora tries anything, Rayquaza will simply smite her. He really doesn't care either way.

TRIVIA

• His birthday (March 8) is from the first two digits of Deoxys' dex number (386)
• He has lots of references to Asuka R. Kreutz from Guilty Gear in his design- being 5'5" and having a priestly design with sick kicks, for example.
• The Jirachi-esque "face paint" he has is actually tattooed on. Ow. He also has Rayquaza-themed tattoos on his arms and back.
• He has a habit of biting his lips when mad. Since he has fangs, this tends to end poorly.
